About Us ...
We are
originally from Trinidad & Tobago, which is an island off the coast of
Venezuela. The country is one of the
most prosperous island nations in the Caribbean, primarily due to its offshore
petroleum, natural gas production and processing.
We are part of a musically inclined family,
of which our late father, Cyril Diaz, was a famous musician in Trinidad. The Trinidad & Tobago government honored
Dad by giving him the prestigious Hummingbird Award, the highest award in the
country; for his contribution in promoting his Caribbean culture and music.
We began our musical
career by performing with our Dad, and later expanded on our own. Leaving
Trinidad for the Bahama Islands in the early 1970's. We were discovered there by then Western New Yorker, John J.
Piazza (Our very best to you, JJ!), who sponsored us to come to
the United States to perform in his restaurant, "The Showboat",
located at the foot of Hertel Avenue, on the west side of the city of Buffalo,
New York. Yes, you read correctly, BUFFALO, NEW YORK. Our home
base is still in Buffalo.
We have traveled
extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Newfoundland, Japan, South
Korea and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. We have performed for military
bases, sheiks, politicians, universities, colleges, schools, country clubs,
local and state fairs, festivals, conventions, fundraisers, banquets, trade and
travel shows, club engagements, weddings and receptions, graduation parties,
children's shows and birthday parties.
We have been nominated to
the Music Hall of Fame, Buffalo, NY. We
received the first place winner of the 1994 World Beat Band category, Buffalo
New York Music Awards.
We were the opening act
for the following: Lou Rawls, The
Lettermen, Maxi Priest, Big Mountain, Sparrow and Patra. We were the featured group at: Cricket World
Cup Millennium Celebration, The World Sports Games, Chautauqua Institute, Tahoe
Arts Project, The Citadel and Miss Universe of 1978, who was from Trinidad
& Tobago.
